On October 19th 2002, on the Raron airstrip in Switzerland, and riding the Exotic Thermo Engineering/Kamikaze’s rocket powered mountain bike, the pilot Donald Pottier broke the world speed record for a bicycle with 242,61 km/h (150,8 mph). He reached that speed after only 250 meters of acceleration. The bike is designed by Arnold Neracher (www.swissrocketman.com) It’s powered by two hydrogen peroxide rockets producing a total thrust of 3000N (660lbs). This bike could go up to 300 km/h ! The previous records were : -236,67km/h on the ETE-Kamikaze’s bike powered by a 1800N thrust H2O2/JP-4 rocket engine / Alec Beney / October 3rd 1998 / Payerne, Switzerland -212139km/h (downhill) / Christian Taillefer / 1998 / Vars-Chabrières, France -203km/h on the ETE-Kamikaze’s bike powered by a single 1300N thrust H2O2 rocket engine / Julian Bartlett / July 16th 1995 / Raron, Switzerland Motor-paced record : (Motor pacing is a type of human powered record where a pace vehicle is modified by adding a tail fairing to keep the wind off the cyclist who is riding behind it). -268831km/h / Fred Rompelberg / October 3rd 1995 / Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA Current absolute speed record on a bicycle. But in that case, the rider is not exposed to the wind blast.

Michael, age 8, is swimming with Ethan, age 7 in CA. Michael and Ethan were both dx with autism. Ethan is now recovered. Michael has been doing IV Chelation for about 2 years. We stopped in CA during our 9 week roadtrip around the USA, visiting family and friends. This was the first time Michael ever swam without a life preserver. Thanks to Ethan’s Dad, Stan, for helping out in the pool. And thanks to Ethan for being such a cool kid and roll model for Michael.
